Recurring Payments
A recurring transaction is a type of payment that is automatically repeated on a regular schedule. It is commonly used for subscriptions, memberships, or services that require ongoing billing.
Merchants can create recurring transactions using either the Authorization (Auth) or Purchase transaction type.
Auth Transactions: When a recurring payment is set up as an Auth transaction, the funds are authorized but not captured immediately. The merchant must explicitly capture the amount after each recurring transaction is processed.
Purchase Transactions: In this case, the amount is authorized and captured in a single step for each recurring cycle.
N-Genius provides flexible options for setting up recurring payments, allowing businesses to tailor payment schedules based on their specific needs.
- Fixed vs Variable Amount: Recurring payments can be configured with either a fixed or variable amount.
Fixed: The same amount is charged for each payment cycle.
Variable: The amount may change for in between the cycle, offering flexibility for dynamic pricing models. - Defined vs Undefined Duration:Recurring payments can also be configured with either a defined or undefined number of billing cycles:
Defined: A specific number of payments is pre-set (e.g., 2, 4, etc.), after which the recurring schedule ends automatically.
Undefined: The payments continue indefinitely until manually cancelled by the merchant.
N-Genius also allows merchant to cancel the recurring anytime they want. Cancelling the recurring will stop further recurring schedules.
